Creative Weaving Workshop

Event

Over and under, up and down, in and out. Weaving is, at its heart, a simple and highly approachable craft - the most direct route from yarn to fabric. But it's the very simplicity of this framework that creates endless possibilities for elaboration - from dazzling levels of technical complexity, to inspired examples of free-form self expression.

Francie started spinning in 2014, and quickly developed a passion for exploring colour and fibre while spinning with Turkish-style spindles. In 2023, she expanded my practice to weaving, developing a distinctive style that maintains an emphasis on letting the handspun yarn shine.

With a background in science, Francie approaches her craft with an analytical mind and an appreciation for the history and knowledge upon which we build. However, she's also a great believer in the importance of free-flowing creative expression, and embracing the hand in handmade.

As an educator, Francie is enthusiastic, approachable and knowledgeable! She never stops learning and she's always working to integrate her understanding into an accessible framework - giving students the skills they need to explore on their own and continue their own creative journey.
