EL AFTER – Rooftop After Party

Event

When La Fiesta finishes, the celebrations continue with EL AFTER, a late-night rooftop party bringing live Latin music, Afro-Cuban percussion, electronica and DJs to the heart of Canberra.

Just a short walk from the festival, Blank Cultural Platform hosts an extended night of music featuring two acts from the La Fiesta lineup, each presenting a different performance from their festival appearance.

Sydney-based Kachimbaz return with their infectious blend of cumbia, salsa, merengue, ska, reggae and Latin rock. Known for their high-energy live shows, the band transforms the rooftop into a dance floor.

Melbourne's Suns of Mercury explore the meeting of traditional Afro-Cuban percussion and contemporary electronic music. Featuring Cuban musicians, live batá and rumba rhythms, and pioneering electronic music producer DJ Wichy de Vedado, their extended set moves between ancestral sounds and modern dance music.

DJ Joshua Madrid keeps the music flowing with Latin and Caribbean party rhythms.

The evening begins with a percussion-led procession from La Fiesta to the venue, guided by Canberra's Raio de Sol and Batería 61 samba bands.

Part of the independently organised La Fiesta Fringe Program, EL AFTER brings the festival's energy into the city and continues the celebration late into the night.

This event is independently organised as part of the La Fiesta Fringe Program and is not an official La Fiesta Festival event.
