Leaf Light

Event

Leaf Light is a participatory art installation and drop-in workshop, where children and their adults are invited to co-create a wonderland of tactile sculptural forms made of crafted leaves, inspired by the wonder and delicate intricacy of plant life.

Leaf Light is presented by experimental arts organisation You Are Here Canberra, working in collaboration with YAH alumni visual artist Julie Monro-Allison. Participants are invited to come along to the drop-in workshops at the site of the new Blank Cultural Platform, a creative community space run collaboratively by arts event company Blank Corporation and You Are Here.

Kids and their caregivers will work with the materials provided to create their own unique leaves to add to the collective art work, and watch it grow over the six days of the festival. They will have a fun and valuable experience of creative corporation, which deepens their engagement with the systems of the natural world.

This work is particularly inspired by the aerial nests woven by green ants. In Leaf Light, we invite children and adults to work with us – collaboratively, like green ants do - a collective working together towards a wonderful goal.
