Valentine’s Day at the NFSA

Event

Celebrate Valentine's Day with a perfect summer evening at the NFSA. Enjoy a live performance by Los Chavos, Canberra's own Latin reggae powerhouse, bringing infectious Afro-Latin rhythms and festival-ready energy to the heritage courtyard. Sip on local wines, summer cocktails, and indulge in charcuterie from Dom's deli & bar, available onsite.

Later, head into Arc Cinema for a screening of Strictly Ballroom (1992), Baz Luhrmann's dazzling directorial debut. This cult classic follows Scott and Fran as they defy convention to dance from the heart, celebrating eccentricity and Australian flair. Digitally restored in 4K as part of NFSA Restores, it's a vibrant tribute to love, creativity, and self-expression—perfect for Valentine's Day.

Hot Summer Nights returns for its second year, offering a curated blend of live music and classic cinema in a single-ticket experience. Come along this Vanetine's Day to this special edition that sets the mood for romance, rhythm, and retro charm under the stars.
