Canberra’s biggest Latin celebration is back this October with an explosion of colour, rhythm, and flavour. Join us for a one-day festival packed with live Latin American bands, DJs, dancers, street food, art, and hands-on workshops — all in the heart of the city.

Picó Sound System

El Gran Mono

Australia’s first Colombian picó, El Gran Mono is a 20,000-watt sound system with hand-painted psychedelic artwork by William ‘El Maestro’ Gutierrez. It blasts tropical vinyl, champeta, cumbia, soukous, afrobeat at major festivals like Womadelaide, Vivid, and Spilt Milk. Featuring Kaimán Jiménez, Selva y Tambo and Bellaqueo.

HIGH-ENERGY RHYTHEMS

Kunataki

Exploring the African roots of Latin music, this unique ensemble weaves Afro-Peruvian traditions with jazz, improvisation, and contemporary flair, honouring the masters while creating a vibrant and soulful sound.

BEATS OF BRAZIL

Baque Voador

Bringing Afro-Brazilian percussion to the stage, this ensemble combines booming Maracatu rhythms, soaring vocals, and vibrant movement in high-energy performances that celebrate Brazil’s Northeast.

JOY IN MOTION

Kachimbaz

A Latin fusion powerhouse, Kachimbaz blends salsa, cumbia, ska, reggae, and rock into explosive live shows that celebrate diversity and light up the dance floor with joy, rhythm, and unstoppable energy.

CBR’S SALSA SOUND

Mi Tierra

Canberra’s own Mi Tierra has been thrilling audiences for 30 years with salsa, timba, mambo, cha-cha, and cumbia. A dynamic force keeping Latin music alive and bursting with energy.

This year’s Latin American Festival is shaping up to be Canberra’s biggest celebration of Latin culture, with incredible local and interstate bands, the amazing Colombian Pico-style sound system El Gran Mono and their crew of DJs and dancers, plus interactive workshops, cultural talks, and an expanded food offerings.
