Canberra’s City Centre is set to come alive again this winter as Winter in the City returns with a completely free program of world-class entertainment from 8–18 July 2026.

Circus Oz returns to Canberra to wow audiences with a brand-new show.

The much-loved annual event transforms Canberra’s heart into a lively winter destination, filled with free performances designed to bring people together to enjoy the city in winter.

Across 10 days of the July school holidays, audiences can enjoy a dynamic program of family-friendly circus performances and spectacular nightly fire shows, all within the heart of the city.

The program is carefully designed to appeal to all ages—whether you’re planning a family outing, meeting friends after work, or looking for something different to do in the evening.

Event details:

  • What: Winter in the City–Free daily circus and nightly fire performances.
  • When: 3:30-7:45pm daily, 8-18 July 2026. Excluding Monday 13 July.
  • Where: City Walk, next to the civic merry-go-round.

Winter in the City plays an important role in activating the City Centre. By providing free, high-quality entertainment, the program encourages people to spend more time in the city—exploring local businesses, dining out, and enjoying everything that is on offer.

A purpose built, 14-metre-wide stage will be installed on City Walk next to the Civic merry-go-round with performances each afternoon and into the evening, making it easy to drop in at any time and catch part of the action.

Winter in the City will have plenty of fiery entertainment on offer this July.

Whether you’re a regular city visitor or looking for a school holiday experience for the whole family to enjoy, Winter in the City is an opportunity to experience Canberra in a new way—warm, welcoming and full of energy.
