Haig Park, Braddon (top of Mort Street)
Once upon a paws, in a park not far away….. 📖🐕🦺🪄
Book Week is going to the dogs! This month we’re warming your cockles by turning the Paws Party into a storybook playground. From Hairy Maclary to Harry the Dirty Dog, Snoopy to Old Yeller, some of the best-loved stories show us what we already know: that dogs deserve a starring role in our lives. Dress up as your favourite book characters, bring a blanket and something to read, or simply join us with your furry friends for a pawsome morning of tales and tails!
Here’s how the story unfolds:
✒️Dear dog: The furbulous Ms Constance Spry’s Letter Writing Service will be in the park, turning stories about your pooch into beautifully typed letters with their unmistakable secretarial style.
🌳Books in trees: It’s back for Book Week! Haig Park becomes an outdoor bookshelf, with books in trees for you to find and keep. Follow your nose and see what story you sniff out.
📚Give a good book a new leash on life: Bring along a book you’ve finished and swap it for another story to take home. Because pre-loved books deserve a good home too.
📸Once upon a pawtrait: Put your dog front and centre in our Book Week photo booth and snap a picture worthy of the front cover. Come in costume or just bring your main character energy.
🎹Piano tails: Wayne Kelly is back at the keys with a playful mix of jazz, favourite tunes and musical stories to warm up your Sunday morning.
🛍️The market chapter: Keep the story going with a wander through the Haig Park Village Markets, where there’s plenty to browse, nibble and sniff out before heading home.
Paws Parties are held monthly as part of the ongoing activation of Haig Park, helping to create a welcoming public space that supports connection, wellbeing and community engagement.
